Music Access Miami Mini and Momentum Grants

Music Access Miami is thrilled to make investments in music education this year through two separate funding tracks - Mini Grants and Momentum Grants!

Mini Grants: One-time grants up to $7,500 for grassroots programs, initiatives, and organizations serving youth through music to support program and operational costs.

Momentum Grants: Multi-year grants of $150,000, up to three years, for grassroots and Black, Indigenous, or People of Color (BIPOC) led organizations serving youth through music to scale, expand and/or deepen their impact.

Our 2022 grant partners are a powerful and diverse group of organizations, representative of the unique cross sections that make our region special, serving youth and families in neighborhoods from Florida City to Brownsville (and everywhere in between). Read more about their work below!

Congratulations to our 2022 Momentum Grant Partners:

Evolutionary arts life foundation

Evolutionary Arts Life Foundation operates a dual-track summer program that exposes underserved children to introductory, intermediate, and advanced level performing arts techniques in music and theatre. Grant funds will be used to assist with the expansion of the summer program to a year-round program, incorporating classes like orchestra, theater, musical theater, and band. The year-round program will include the implementation of two community showcases in the Spring and Fall semesters, and yearly, ongoing free music and performing arts workshops with leading industry professionals for youth enrolled in our programs.

teeny violini

Teeny Violini's mission is to be a mobile music education program that provides access to high-quality music education services for early learners in target areas of South Miami, Overtown, Liberty City, Miami Gardens, Opa Locka and Broward County neighborhoods. Funding will be used to expand programming in target neighborhoods, professional development for staff, to further enhance and develop the Teeny Violini teaching curriculum, and to supplement the costs of teaching artist fees for music lessons to early learners, alleviating cost barriers that limit program access.

the children’s voice chorus

Founded in 2011, the Children’s Voice Chorus now reaches over 175 students ages 5-18 across Miami through a year-round choral performance program, highly inclusive summer camp, and Kindermusik early childhood music classes. Students learn age-appropriate vocal technique, music theory, and ear-training, developing artistic skills and musicianship in ensemble settings while developing life skills. Grant funds will be used for programmatic expansion, new partnerships, and capacity-building with the goal of reaching over 500 students per year by 2025.

Jazz Education Community Coalition

To support the JECC Jazz Bootcamp that is designed to build repertoire, develop performance and audition skills, and help musicians get an understanding, love and ear for this music we call jazz. Teaching young musicians these skills early will not only help them grow as performers, it will build their confidence as young men and women.

Art Prevails Project

virtual inclusion artists academy

Virtual Inclusion Artists (VIA) Academy is an immersive summer program, offered at no cost to students, that is redefining career pathways in classical music by engaging youth who are historically underrepresented in classical music or have limited access to arts education. Grant funds will be used for capacity-building and student sponsorship for the online and in-person Miami program.

orchestra miami

To support the partnership with the Carnegie Hall Weill Music Institute and Miami Dade County Public Schools to present the Carnegie Hall Link Up program. The program allows students in grades 3-5 to explore orchestral repertoire and fundamental musical skills through a hands-on music curriculum.
