Music Access Fellowship

Back in 2018, we observed more than 60 disparate organizations focused on increasing access to music education in Miami-Dade County. In large part, they were working in silos or even in competition with one another. We wondered what it would take to mobilize our region’s music access ecosystem to work together toward a shared vision.

The Music Access Fellowship was designed to explore this possibility, focusing specifically on the need to build increased trust and collaboration across the ecosystem, while steering leaders toward more systemic solutions.

Vision and Impact

To participate in the Fellowship, leaders applied in collaboration with others, proposing a way they could combine forces to bring music to youth in Miami. 99 organizations applied, each bringing innovative ways they might work together. After an intensive selection process, we selected 17 outstanding leaders and their collaborative projects. $1,000,000 was invested in their collaborative projects and a year long experiment in collective impact began.

The Fellows

The Fellowship brought together 17 outstanding leaders committed to bringing high quality music programming to youth in Miami. While each Fellow played a critical role independently, we were most excited about what came from their time together collaborating, launching pilots, engaging in an ecosystem mapping process, and dreaming big as a collective focused on a common goal.
